Ernesto Bruschi is a periodontist, implantologist and oral surgeon practising in Frosinone, Italy at the Denti Più Dental Centre. Founder of the Bonebenders blog, he is the author of peer-reviewed publications on ridge expansion and bone regeneration. Trained at the Göteborg school under Jan Lindhe, he inherited and continues to develop the ridge expansion technique of the Bruschi-Scipioni school. For over thirty years he has treated periodontal disease and reconstructed lost bone in the jaws.
Training
My training began at the Göteborg school, under professors Jan Lindhe and Jan Wennström — where modern periodontology has its roots. In the United States I studied with Dr. Ronald Odrich and Dr. Frank Celenza Jr., deepening the relationship between occlusion and periodontal disease.
For years I was an active member of the Academy of Osseointegration — the largest scientific society in the world dedicated to implant dentistry. But my greatest debt is to my father, Prof. Giovanni Battista Bruschi, and Prof. Agostino Scipioni. From them I inherited the ridge expansion technique and the conviction that every case deserves a personalised plan, never a pre-packaged protocol. Their school did not teach only surgery. It taught how to think.
What I do
I work in three disciplines that in my practice are inseparable:
Periodontology — Diagnosis and treatment of periodontitis and gingival recessions. Non-surgical cause-related therapy, regenerative surgery to recover lost bone, mucogingival surgery for receding gums. Periodontology is the foundation of everything else: without a healthy periodontium, no implant and no prosthesis can last.
Implant dentistry — Dental implants with digital planning, immediate loading when conditions allow, management of complex cases with limited bone. The implant is not an isolated surgical act: it is a prosthetic project that begins with diagnosis.
Regenerative oral surgery — Ridge expansion, sinus lift, GBR, complex extractions with socket preservation. Bone regeneration has been the heart of my work for thirty years — what on the blog I call bonebending.
Tailored regeneration
Every bone defect is unique. Every tissue responds differently. My approach to regeneration starts from the analysis of the individual case — biology comes before technique. There is no universal solution: there is the right solution for that patient, at that moment.
The ridge expansion I inherited from the Bruschi-Scipioni school best embodies this principle: working with the patient's own bone, expanding it, shaping it — without harvesting from other sites, without rigid protocols.
Publications and research
My peer-reviewed publications are available on ORCID, ResearchGate and Web of Science. I publish in peer-reviewed international journals — the only filter that separates evidence from opinion.

Teaching
I give courses and lectures on ridge expansion and tailored bone regeneration, in Italy and abroad. Teaching is the best way to keep learning — every question from a participant forces you to rethink what you took for granted.

The practice
I see patients at the Denti Più Dental Centre, Corso Lazio 17, Scala B, 2nd Floor, Frosinone, Italy — a few minutes from the motorway exit.
The practice covers all branches of dentistry through selected professionals: restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, orthodontics, endodontics, paediatric dentistry and professional dental hygiene with GBT technique.
